The Quay Hotel & Spa, Conwy

The Quay Hotel & Spa Conwy

Last week, myself and Matt decided to book ourselves a nice little last minute break to Wales during our time off work. After searching for a good deal on Booking.com, we came across a beautiful 4 Star gem, The Quay Hotel & Spa in Conwy. We took a quick look through the absolutely divine imagery, fell in love with the idea of a visit here and booked it straight away. If you're thinking of taking a trip to Conwy and need somewhere to stay, it's definitely worth taking a look at here! Our visit just couldn't go unmentioned here on the blog, and you can find out more about our two night stay below...

The Quay Hotel & Spa: The Location

The hotel was situated just past the main town of Conwy, with views of the estuary and marina on both sides. It was an 8 minute drive from both Conwy town and Llandudno town so we weren't too far out, giving us the choice of where we wanted to visit. We were also a quick 6 minute walk from the Deganwy Quay train station where we could catch a train to either town in just 5 minutes, perfect if nobody feels up for driving! On the journey up towards the hotel, you pass several large, luxury homes which just set the feel for the entire experience too. It almost felt as though we were in another country overseas...(if it wasn't for the cold January weather.)

The Quay Hotel & Spa: The Room

When booking our stay, we chose to book one of the classic double rooms, tempted by the lower price. Due to this, we were expecting the room to not be quite like the pictures, but oh we were so wrong. Upon opening the door, we were amazed at how spacious our room was. Even though there was a large double bed, desk, wardrobe and two chairs, there was enough room to literally do cartwheels! I can also clarify that Matt tested this, there was room. Our bathroom was also incredible and easily bigger than my bedroom back home! With the room, we also had a trouser press, mini fridge, toiletries, a kettle with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and milk, free WiFi, flat screen TV, bath and shower available to use.

The Quay Hotel & Spa: The Breakfast

Breakfast for both mornings in the hotel was included in the price of our room. We headed down to the restaurant and bar area, got seated straight away and drinks were brought to us. We then had the choice to order something from the menu or help ourselves to the continental buffet-style breakfast laid out. The first morning, I opted for the Belgian waffle with Nutella which tasted incredible! At first I thought I'd be left feeling quite hungry still, but it was surprisingly really filling.

On the second morning, I chose to help myself to a full Welsh breakfast from the buffet. Everything was so full of flavour and cooked to perfection. I was left feeling full for the entire day which honestly NEVER happens with me and my appetite. Just in case anyone was wondering, this is a photo of Matt's breakfast as I won't eat egg and wanted to get a photo of everything!

There was a range of meats, juices, fruit and pastries on the buffet along with the cooked food. If you preferred to have your eggs cooked differently too, you could request them. On the menu, you could also order smoked fish dishes, pancakes, different waffle toppings and loads of other things! Vegetarian dishes and gluten-free options were at hand as well so there was literally something for everyone to enjoy.

The Quay Hotel & Spa: The Leisure Club

Shortly after tucking into our breakfast on the first day, we headed down to explore the leisure club/spa to use the pool. Obviously I didn't walk in taking photos, as to not creep people out who were already in the pool. However, you can find photos from inside the pool area online, I can promise that it looks just as good in real life! Inside, we got to have a swim, enjoy a soak in the hydrotherapy pool and chill out in the steam room and sauna. It was so relaxing and not too busy, plus, even if you visit in peak times, children can only use the pool between 10-12am or 3-5pm. This way you can avoid splashy kids getting in the way if you often find they bother you (nothing worse than someone's child left unattended so they can cannonball on your head whilst you're trying to swim!)

Have you ever visited The Quay Hotel & Spa? What did you think?
