My Worst Beauty Bad Habits

beauty bad habits dry shampoo makeup mascara

Us girls like to pretend that we have our beauty routines perfected and we stick to them religiously. However, unless its an eyebrow shaping appointment, I don't believe for a second that every single gal who acts this way actually sticks to these rules. Even though I know exactly how to keep things looking as flawless as possible, I can rarely be bothered to put the effort in to do it every. single. time. Since January is all about motivating yourself to become a better version of you, I thought I'd share my slobbish beauty bad habits with you all. Hopefully, I may realise how gross these things are when looking back on this post and break the worst habits! If not, I may help someone else feel a little better about their lack of routine and realise that nobody really keeps it up all the time without fail.

Removing Makeup

Even though I'm getting better with this one, I often find myself going to bed with makeup on. Its one of the worst things you can do to your skin as it becomes dry, dull and clogged up, so you'll need to wear even more to cover that up! If I put liquid eyeliner on my lid, it usually helps to motivate me to take it off before bed (as waking up with crusty dry bits all over your eyes is not pretty.) If I'm just wearing foundation and mascara though, taking it off just seems to use up as much energy as running a marathon, no thanks.

Washing Applicators

I'm sorry, you are literally all going to vomit at this one. You haven't washed your beauty blender in 2 weeks? I've had mine since last August and it's NEVER been washed. Ever. I know it's holding enough bacteria to unleash a new disease upon the earth now, but they take SO long to wash. Not only that, I don't want to wait for it to dry, what if I need to use it? In fact, I think I may just throw it out and buy a new one...

Out of Date Cosmetics

I don't care if my mascara is 3 years old; if it has a pretty wand and is still black, I'm using it. Mascara just never seems to run out and if it still works, why should I have to buy a new one? Other than the fact that there's probably a whole village of bacteria living on the spoolie... I may trick myself into feeling like a thrifty shopper, but actually I'm just a makeup hoarder. Gorgeous lipstick colours are also capable of saving themselves from the bin. At the end of the day, the worry of never finding a shade the same again is too much to handle.

Overusing Dry Shampoo

Why is it that hair wash days never align well with social events? If there's no time, the trusty dry shampoo becomes the most important thing you've ever owned. It's fine to use occasionally but when it's suddenly the next day and you cannot face the ordeal of drying and styling your hair, dry shampoo becomes a cheat which needs to be stopped. I've sometimes used it for like 3 days in a row which I always regret once I've left the house, yet I still do it time and time again! No wonder my hair hates me.

Okay, I got it. I'm disgusting when it comes to beauty bad habits. After writing this, I've come to the conclusion that my beauty blender needs cremating and 90% of my makeup needs throwing out!
